FDM 3D printing in Asturias
FDM printing lays down a thread of molten plastic layer by layer; we print on Bambu Lab P1S, A1 and A2L. It is the most affordable option for functional parts, spare parts, brackets and medium-sized prototypes: strong, fast and available in PLA, PETG, ABS/ASA and TPU. A small part costs from €6 and is ready in 24–72 h.

When to choose FDM
- Functional parts and spare parts
- Brackets, enclosures, jigs
- Medium-sized prototypes
- Small batches of 10 to 500 parts
When not to
- Jewellery or miniature detail below 0.1 mm
- A perfectly smooth surface with no visible layers (sanding is possible)
Materials for FDM
PLA
PLA is the easiest and cheapest plastic to print: rigid, accurate and with a good finish.
PETG
PETG is our recommended material for functional parts and spare parts: more resistant to impact and heat than PLA (≈ 75 °C), slightly flexible and fine for humidity and moderate outdoor use..
ABS / ASA
ABS and ASA are engineering plastics for parts that face heat (≈ 95 °C) and demanding use.
TPU
TPU is a flexible, rubber-like material (hardness ≈ 95A).
PA (nylon)
Nylon (PA) is the plastic for parts that work hard: gears, bushings, hinges and clips that flex thousands of times.
PBT
PBT is an engineering polyester, a cousin of PET: it keeps its dimensions, barely absorbs moisture and resists oils, fuels and many solvents.
Carbon fibre (CF)
Carbon fibre plastics (PLA-CF, PETG-CF, PA-CF) have short carbon fibres mixed into the filament.
Glass fibre (GF)
Glass fibre plastics (PA-GF, ABS-GF, PBT-GF) are stiffer, deform less with heat and hold their dimensions better than the base plastic.
Questions about FDM
How strong is an FDM part?
It depends on the material and infill. In PETG or ASA with 30–60 % infill, a part handles everyday mechanical use; for high loads we recommend more walls and the right print orientation. We advise you free of charge.
Are the layers visible?
Yes, slightly: at 0.2 mm layers you can feel them. For a finer surface, choose 0.12 mm layers or ask for sanding.
